OmniEIR Metrics and Monitoring

Overview | Configuration Reference | Operations Guide | Troubleshooting

Prometheus endpoint

OmniEIR exposes a Prometheus scrape endpoint via TelemetryMetricsPrometheus on prometheus_metrics_port (default 9572):

GET http://<eir-host>:9572/metrics

All labels are low-cardinality (status / result / nf_type) so the series count stays bounded.

Metrics

MetricTypeLabelsDescription
omni_eir_equipment_check_countcounterstatusEquipment checks by resolved EquipmentStatus (WHITELISTED/BLACKLISTED/GREYLISTED).
omni_eir_hss_request_countcounterresultOmniHSS GET /api/eir/rule reads by outcome (success/failure).
omni_eir_hss_request_duration_msgaugeresultLatency of the most recent OmniHSS EIR-rule read.
omni_eir_nrf_registration_statusgaugenf_typeNRF registration status (1 = registered, 0 = not).
beam_*gaugenoneStandard BEAM VM stats (memory, process/port counts, uptime).

Underlying telemetry events

EventMeasurementsMetadataEmitted by
[:omnieir, :equipment_check]countstatusOmniEIR on each resolved verdict
[:omnieir, :hss, :request]count, duration_msendpoint, resultOmniEIR on each GET /api/eir/rule to OmniHSS
[:omniamf, :eir, :check]countresult (:whitelisted | :greylisted | :blacklisted | :unknown | :error)The AMF on each equipment check

The AMF also emits its existing [:omniamf, :registration, :result] event with result: :rejected when a blacklisted PEI bars a registration. (The [:omniamf, :eir, :check] series is exposed on the AMF's Prometheus endpoint, not OmniEIR's.)

What to watch

  • A rising rate of [:omnieir, :hss, :request] with result: :failure means OmniEIR cannot reach OmniHSS. The AMF then fails open (every device allowed). Alert on this.
  • [:omniamf, :eir, :check] with result: :blacklisted counts barred devices; :error counts fail-open events at the AMF.

Logs

OmniEIR and the AMF log each decision. Notable lines:

  • AMF: 5G-EIR returned BLACKLISTED for PEI <pei> (<supi>); barring registration
  • AMF: 5G-EIR check failed for <supi> (<reason>); failing open
  • OmniEIR: Could not read EIR rules from HSS: <reason>
